Information from Manufacturers of Pan Masala/Tobacco/Related Products – Special Procedure to be Followed

In accordance with Notification No. 04/2024 – Central Tax dated January 5, 2024, the government has mandated specific information from taxpayers dealing with pan masala, tobacco, and related products. Effective from April 1, 2024, the special procedure requires:

 

  • Form GST SRM-I: Registration and disposal of machines.
  • Form GST SRM-II: Monthly information on inputs and outputs.

The GSTN portal now facilitates the registration of machines through Form GST SRM-I. Taxpayers dealing in these products should promptly use this facility. Form GST SRM-II will also be available on the portal soon.

Launch of E-way Bill 2 Portal

The GSTN has announced the launch of the E-way Bill 2 portal by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), effective from June 1, 2024. This portal initially offers the critical services of the E-Way Bill system, with plans to extend it further. Key features include:

 

  • E-Way Bill Generation and Updates: Independent functionality for creating and updating E-Way Bills.
  • Web and API Modes: Provides both web-based and API-based operations for ease of access.
  • Criss-Cross Operations: Allows updating Part-B of E-Way Bills across both the main and E-Way Bill 2 portals. This feature is particularly useful during technical issues or other exigencies.

Users can log in to the E-way Bill 2 portal with their credentials from the main portal. This new portal ensures high availability and runs parallel to the main E-way Bill portal, providing robust support and continuous service.
